A recording needs a source that is available while it is being captured. If a Tango broadcast has already ended, first check whether a recording exists in the Recfolder archive. Adding a creator now cannot recover a broadcast that nobody recorded.
For a future live, choose between capturing your own screen and asking Recfolder to monitor the creator. Only record content you have permission to capture, and respect the creator's rights, privacy and the platform's rules.
Record a live you are already watching
A phone screen recorder is useful for a short session you can supervise. On iPhone, use Screen Recording in Control Center; on supported Android devices, use Screen record in Quick Settings. Follow the official instructions for iPhone or Android, since controls and audio options vary by device.
Before recording a long session, make a short test. Play it back and check that the picture and the audio you need were captured. Check storage space and battery, and close notifications that could expose personal information. Some apps or content can restrict capture or audio. The resulting file format depends on your device and settings.
On a computer, a recorder such as OBS Studio can capture an accessible player window or display. Select the correct source and audio input, then test the saved file before committing to a long recording. You must keep the player and recorder running. Output format and resolution depend on your configuration and the source; selecting a larger canvas does not create detail missing from the live.
Set up recording through Telegram
Recfolder monitors a watchlist on its servers, so your phone does not need to stay on the live. To set it up:
- Open the Recfolder recording bot in Telegram.
- Send
/watch usernamewith the creator's Tango username. - Open
/watchlistand confirm that the intended creator was added. - After an eligible live is detected and recorded, look for the processed MP4 in your bot conversation.
Monitoring uses periodic checks. Recording can start after a broadcast begins, and detection, source access or capacity problems can prevent a recording. The bot cannot promise to capture every live or its opening seconds. Read the watchlist setup guide for limits and troubleshooting.
Compare the practical requirements
| Method | What must stay running | Where the result appears | Main limitation | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Phone screen recording | Your phone and the live player | Device storage or photo library | Manual start; device capture and audio restrictions | | Desktop screen recording | Computer, player and recorder | Your configured output folder | Manual setup; local storage and recording settings | | Recfolder watchlist | Recfolder's monitoring service | Telegram after processing | Polling, source availability and plan limits |
Screen recording captures the player as displayed, including any overlays within the selected area. Recfolder records an available stream source rather than your phone screen, but source branding or watermarks can still be present. Neither method establishes permission to redistribute the recording.
Check limits before a long live
Recfolder's Free plan supports two watched creators, one active automatic recording and one manual recording at a time. Free recordings are limited to the first 60 minutes and a source up to 360p. Paid plans increase limits and can use an HD source when Tango supplies one; a paid plan does not turn a low-resolution source into HD.
Check current plans for the complete limits before adding several creators or planning a long capture. Automatic watchlist recordings and manual recording slots are separate counters.
Keep the file you need
Once a recording is delivered, download a local copy if you need to keep it. Delivery and archive access do not guarantee permanent storage. Files may become unavailable because of service policies, Telegram availability or removal requests. The MP4 download guide explains how to find an existing recording and save the delivered file.
