There are two different starting points: a recording already exists, or you want a file from a future live. Recfolder can deliver an available recording and attempt to capture future public broadcasts. It cannot create a missing file from a live that has ended.
Before saving or sharing a video, check that you have the necessary permission. Public visibility does not remove copyright, privacy or platform restrictions.
Download an existing recording
- Browse the Recfolder archive, or search for the creator on the site.
- Open the recording's detail page and check the creator, date and duration so you select the intended session.
- Use its Telegram delivery button and continue in the bot conversation. You may need to start the bot before it can reply.
- When the bot delivers the MP4, download the file in Telegram. Use the app's save or export controls to keep a copy on your device; their names and location vary between mobile and desktop versions.
Wait for the local download to finish before going offline. Play the saved file to check its duration, picture and audio. If the delivery contains multiple parts, download each part you need rather than assuming the first file covers the whole session.
The web page identifies the recording and opens delivery; it does not provide a browser video player. A thumbnail or preview is not the MP4 itself.
Understand the archive allowance
Free accounts can unlock three public archive recordings per rolling 24 hours. Paid accounts can unlock 100. A rolling window moves with your unlock times rather than resetting at midnight. Recordings captured for your own watchlist are separate from this public allowance.
If the bot says you have reached a limit, follow its guidance or compare current plans. Opening another browser tab or repeating the delivery link does not create a new allowance. A plan cannot restore a recording that was removed or never captured.
Arrange a recording for a future live
If you cannot find the session, add the creator for future recording attempts:
- Open the Recfolder recording bot.
- Send
/watch usernamewith the Tango username. - Confirm the creator using
/watchlist.
Monitoring is periodic, so a recording can start after the broadcast begins or fail if the source is unavailable. Duration and quality follow your plan: Free records the first 60 minutes with a source up to 360p; paid plans allow up to eight hours and HD when available. See the watchlist guide for capacity limits.
If you are already watching and need a supervised capture, the recording methods guide covers phone and desktop screen recording. Screen recordings use the format and audio settings of the device or software, which may differ from Recfolder's MP4 delivery.
When a download does not work
Check whether Telegram has finished downloading the file and whether your device has enough storage. If only a preview was saved, return to the original file message. If the bot reports a removed or unavailable recording, repeated link requests will not repair it.
Send /support with the recording link, the approximate delivery time and the error shown. Do not send your Telegram login code or payment credentials. Renaming a different file's extension to .mp4 does not convert its video format.
Store a permitted copy yourself
Do not treat Telegram delivery or a public archive page as a permanent backup. Access can change after service-policy changes, a removal request or a Telegram issue. Keep a local copy of files you are entitled to retain, and avoid redistributing someone else's stream without permission. For removal requests, use the content removal page.
